MINI MASTERCLASS: Go from Zero to Video Hero! (part 1)
“How do you add a background onto IG videos?”
“How do I add subtitles over my video file?”
“I’m a pretty confident person, but as soon as I see that little black lens, I panic. Help!”
These are just a few of the questions I get asked every single week on instagram! And the good news is, it’s actually quite easy to shoot and edit a video for your brand.
In fact, I’ve just created a FREE 5 part mini video training course that takes you step-by-step through how to use video for your brand – from recording right though to editing.
It’s no secret that video is outperforming any other type of content right now. As marketing guru Garry V says, “The single most important strategy in content marketing today is video.”
And once you get into the swing of things, it really does become easy. Would I have said that one year ago? Absolutely not!
The very first video I did was an interview for my business coach on branding for a program she was running. I’m not going to lie – it scarred me for life (by life, I mean 2 years, I’m a bit dramatic like that)!
I watched it back and could barely control my cringing – I wanted to make sure this video never saw the light of day outside the program! It was horrendous. For some reason, a camera turned me into a timid, blubbering mess.
I’ve mainly gotten over this now and credit it to these 3 things:
A good tripod and good lighting (makes anyone look professional and no, you don’t need to break the bank) P R A C T I C E. I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Just because you record a video doesn’t actually mean you have to post it anywhere! Practice and delete until you get comfortable.
Have a strategy and be prepared. Creating a video for the sake of it is not exactly motivating and something you will continue to put on the long finger. It doesn’t have to be complicated – a simple plan goes a long way.
